Below are the most frequently asked questions about our programs, activities and the facility in general. If we didn't answer your question feel free to Contact Us and ask; who knows maybe your question will make the starting XI.
A ) Each child is unique and at different stages of the developmental process regardless of age. Really it's a judgement call for both the parents and the coach. Often times the personality of the child may mean it takes a class or two for them to open up. That's whats so nice about the no-obligation trial class, you at least get one chance to give it a try. Most coaches have childcare backgrounds and are taught to be open and honest with the parent if the child is not ready. Better that way then to have a parent/child that is not enjoying themselves. Most kids are tougher than we think. Whether or not you are ready is another story, it is just the first step in a series of letting go and watching them grow up-it can be both exciting and sad at the same time, but all a part of it. Remember, you can always be there with them and watch.
A ) SoccerTots classes typically run in 6 month age groups, but often times two classes are combined to be for a full year. With the exception of the 5-7 year olds we will never have a 2 to 3 year gap between kids in the same class. Developmentally, it is just not fair for any of them. We also will not combine a parent participation class (like Teddies & Teddies 2) and non-participation classes as that creates confusion for the child. Additionally, we will not combine a Teddies and Teddies 2 class together. The Coach will rely on your judgement on which class they should be in and can make recommendations accordingly. Moving to a different class during the session is a last resort. With small class sizes the Coach has the opportunity to adjust the class and curriculum to fit in with an individual or the class as a whole.
A ) The new KidsSports facility in Pewaukee and will be our primary location. Its netted, padded and turfed facility is perfectly sized for our classes. Additionally, we recognize that this may not be perfect for everyone and we partner with other athletic clubs, churches, schools and other facilities that have open time and space. These alternative locations view SoccerTots as a complement to the programs they offer. Typically we hold those classes in the gym, studios or racquetball courts and also have run classes in parks outdoors during the summer. Our HoopsterTots program is entirely located in those facilities.
A ) SoccerTots is primarily designed to be a physical development program that uses a variety of fun games and activities to introduce the kids to the game of soccer. The soccer ball is just one of many props that we use. We typically do not play actual soccer until the Pandas class (age 4-1/2) up through our Polar Bears class (age 7). This typically is for the last 10 to 15 minutes of class where we introduce a concept of the game and then allow for an open game with a minimal amount of rules. While kids want to play the "real game" they often aren't ready to deal with all of the selflessness that is required. We do keep score but do not just do so based on goals, but also with other objectives such as passes to teammates etc... Winning is acknowledged but not celebrated; fun, learning and dealing with winning/losing are much more important at this age.
A ) SoccerTots supplies all of the equipment that is necessary to play including a ball. You need to have them in proper gym clothes for running around, gym shoes (no cleats) and a water bottle because we do take breaks. That's it.
A ) While SoccerTots offers the same game (soccer) we do not view ourselves as competitors to those mentioned. We have developed a saying, "For the right families with the right needs we are the right choice." Our program is designed to create a passion for exercise, general physical development and soccer for the long-term. We create value through the unique programming, a non-competitive environment and professionally trained instructors, focussing on fun first and soccer second. When the child is ready their will be ample opportunity for them to play the game at all levels. We want to create an energy and enthusiasm for the game itself that can last a lifetime without the need or feeling of being committed.
A ) SoccerTots offers up many unique benefits and is an entirely different approach to the game of soccer and physical development. If you really want to know all the reasons why we feel our program is unique, visit the ABCE's of SoccerTots and that really explains things well. Suffice it to say parents have often said that this is one of the best experiences they have had.
A ) Costs are based on the number of weeks per session. Typically sessions run for 8-12 weeks throughout the year with a week or so in-between. Pricing is based on a per class price and can be prorated depending on when you start the class. We do offer sibling discounts as well. We do offer coupons throughout the year on various programs and those coupons are required at time of payment or the first class. Payments can be done online via Paypal or via check/cash the first day of class. If any adjustments need to be made due to coupons or other requirements you may need to contact KidsSports.
A ) Part of the fun of SoccerTots is being there to experience all of the fun and to see it unfold. While you are free to leave and come at the end of class (with the exception of Teddies/Teddies 2 which are parent participation) we would strongly encourage you to stay there. There are viewing areas and at our KidsSports facility their are books and activities for other kids who are not playing. As far as your level of participation during the class we would ask that unless the instructor is looking to you for assistance you remain the fly on the wall. One of the things the program provides might be one of the first opportunities for your child to interact with another authority figure, and this is important developmentally to foster. You are more than welcome to cheer and encourage as much as you can.
A ) With the exception of water we would ask that you do not bring food and drinks onto the field at this time.
